Operation: Ground And Pound
It's already approaching the end of the week, and two camps just passed. Mixed feelings fill my innards; comprised of ecstasy, exhaustion, satisfaction. Two words: no regrets.
Day 1 started well on Tuesday. It was a 4-day 4-night band camp at Riverside Secondary School. The whole thing just overwhelmed me. Everything is a better change. The new conductor was cool. He implemented new stuff, including new training exercises, as well as new punishments. Nice.. Heh. Push-ups are now finally legalized. Finally. And as for the percussion section, holding crash cymbals with both arms stretched open, is the new jumping jacks for dropping of sticks. Heh. Thanks to Miss Akari.
Speaking of which... The new line-up for the percussion crew is just so awesome! Hah. Honestly, I was kinda saddened at first 'cuz there's no dude in the section. But then, they all just made me realize that there's a thing called 'girl power'. The two girl drummers had improved. And the three sec ones are very fast learners. Really nice. Heh. And the best thing is, they are all independent. So.. hakkuna matatta!
Day 2 and day 3 kinda linked, 'cuz I overnighted with the band, alongside Hilmi and Kamilliya. And I only slept for 2 hours on Wednesday night, I think. And so I was late and sleepy for Babes class. Heh. But yet, I fought my way through.. Until Spicer's class, when I just couldn't take it any more and I just had to skip his lesson. So I headed home around 4pm, took a shower, downloaded some file for Kamilliya's emcee speech and then headed straight to Riverside, WITHOUT a nap. Oh, and I was scammed. Enough said.
Reached school around 6pm plus and there was this buffet meant for celebrating the departure of the graduating batch. It was like a miracle, 'cuz I was hungry and I didn't bring much cash with me. So... Yeah. We all ate a lot. And I mean A WHOLE LOT. Heh. Then after that we had a quick run through for the concert which was on the next day. Riverside's very first public concert. Cool. So I stayed until almost 11pm. I had fun, although I knew I might crash anytime soon.
Finally, day 4 cum Riverside Rhapsody Night. I had REMT class in the morning, so I had to rush back home soon after that to pack my stuff. And I was tired like bird..
Reached band at about 3pm. Had some sectionals, gave some motivational talk to the percussion crew, had some warm up exercises, and then it was time..
Everyone was already seated in the hall at 7.30pm. The crowd was huge. It should be made up of parents and alumnis and teachers and friends. And so we started off with Abba Gold, followed by Hunchback of Northe Dame, Introduction to Band which includes medleys taken from Mission Impossible, I Will Survive, Can't Take My Eyes Off You and a couple more songs, and then followed by the junior band playing their pieces. And then there was the solemnized ceremony which involved the junior band. The concert ended of with us playing Phantom of the Opera and Pirates of the Carribean back to back. It was amazing. We made history.
Oh. It didn't end here. Heh. After the concert, I had to rush to SP for my 2-day 1-night Freshmen Orientation Workshop camp. Hmm.. Was I tired..? Well, I shall not elaborate much on it. One word: gratification. I loved my two camps. Heh. And there is more to come. You can bet on it. Cheers.
Note to self:
i saw you again and again now.
